'Simply Clutch': Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Big In Win Over Commanders

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni praises Jalen Hurts dominant performance against division rivals the Washington Commanders.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts came up big on Sunday during a 34-31 overtime victory against the team’s divisional rivals the Washington Commanders.

The MVP-caliber quarterback showcased that his chemistry has looked as good as ever with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith as he recorded a season-high 319 passing yards with two touchdown passes. The performance was one that head coach Nick Sirianni raved about after the game.

“I thought he played clutch," said Sirianni. "Just clutch. I think that’s the best way to say it. Whether it was the overtime drive, whether it was the drive where we scored with about a minute plus left.“

Coming into Week 4, Hurts had only recorded one passing touchdown in each game thus far. But he has continued to impress with his remarkable growth as a passer and leader.

“Just growing, every time I step on the field that’s my goal. Just to get better every opportunity I have.” said Hurts. “That pressure builds a ton of character. When you put yourselves in those positions, it’s about how you respond. That’ll pay dividends for us in the future.”

The Eagles now sit atop the NFC East with a 4-0 record. Under new coordinator Brian Johnson, the offense now looks fully up to speed and comfortable … with Hurts and company looking to face off in Week 5 against a competitive Los Angeles Rams team. With a 2-2 record to start the year, the Rams have been playing teams close, as in just their last three outings each game has been decided by an average of five points.

So with that being said, Hurts may need to come up clutch again for the Eagles in order to keep them undefeated.
