The Eagles are without their top wide receiver and top running back as they take on the one-loss New England Patriots on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

Both Alshon Jeffery and Jordan Howard will miss the game due to injury.

Jeffery, who is the team’s top receiver threat with 353 yards and four touchdowns on 34 receptions, has an ankle injury. He had been ruled out on Friday.

Howard, who is tops on the team in touchdowns with seven and rushing yards with 525, is out with a shoulder injury that the Eagles are calling a stinger. He was listed as questionable on Friday.

Both injuries happened in the Eagles’ win over the Chicago Bears, which was their final game leading into their bye week.

The Eagles were already going to be without receiver DeSean Jackson and running back Darren Sproles after both were placed on Injured Reserve during the past two weeks.

To make up for plethora of losses, the Eagles hit the streets this week and signed receiver Jordan Matthews and running back Jay Ajayi.

Matthews played one game this season with the San Francisco 49ers. Ajayi hasn’t played since Week Four of the 2018 season when he tore an ACL and missed the rest of the season and all of this season so far.

Jeffery’s role will likely be filled by rookie second-round pick J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, whose snaps have bene limited all season and has just two catches for 14 yards so far.

Cornerback Sidney Jones, who was inactive against the Chicago Bears, is active for the Patriots.

In addition to Jeffery and Howard, the other inactives for the Eagles are quarterback Nate Sudfeld, offensive lineman Nate Herbig, defensive ends Daeshon Hall and Shareef Miller, and linebacker Nigel Bradham.

Bradham continues to recover from an ankle injury. This will be his fourth game missing from the lineup.
