NFL Draft: Eagles Trade for Chargers RB Austin Ekeler?

Austin Ekeler would take the Philadelphia Eagles offense to another level if the Los Angeles Chargers were to trade him to the reigning NFC Champions.

The Philadelphia Eagles have a pair of first-round picks in next week's NFL Draft, but that doesn't mean the team has to walk away with two rookies by the end of Thursday night.

The Eagles have many options with their picks and general manager Howie Roseman could pull off a blockbuster trade similar to the one he made last year for wide receiver A.J. Brown.

CBS Sports curated a seven-round mock draft in which the Eagles trade the No. 30 pick for No. 54 and running back Austin Ekeler.

The Chargers could be looking to deal Ekeler after the star running back requested a trade earlier this offseason. Ekeler wants a new contract with the Chargers before it expires at the end of the 2023 season, but Los Angeles is hesitant to give him what he's looking for.

Should the Eagles make this move, it would represent an upgrade from Miles Sanders, who left in free agency to sign with the Carolina Panthers, and make Philadelphia's offense that much more lethal.

By using a pick to take care of the running back position, it allows the Eagles to focus on drafting developmental pieces at other areas of need.

In CBS Sports' seven-round mock, the Eagles chose Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter (No. 10), cornerback Kelee Ringo (No. 54), Auburn pass rusher Derick Hall (No. 62), Illinois running back Chase Hall (No. 111), Louisiana Tech cornerback Myles Brooks (No. 142), TCU quarterback Max Duggan (No. 219) and UAB defensive back Starling Thomas (No. 248).
