NFL Mock Draft: Eagles Select Top Local CB?

The Philadelphia Eagles could upgrade at cornerback in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the best teams in the NFL, but there is always area for improvement.

The Eagles are projected to go deep in the playoffs again this year, but questions linger in regards to their secondary. That's why the cornerback position is addressed in Sports Illustrated's latest mock draft.

With the No. 30 overall pick, the Eagles are slated to select Penn State cornerback Kalen King.

Kalen King

"If you like your corners with rapid fire feet, a tenacious attitude and ball skills like a wide receiver, you’re gonna love this dude," Athlon Sports writes. "I see some Jaire Alexander in his game, which probably paints a pretty vivid picture. King has the upside of a dynamic starter in any coverage system."

King, who turns 21 in January, has played three years for the Nittany Lions and has been recognized for his achievements on the field. In 2022, King was named Third Team All-Big Ten. This year, he was named Second Team All-Big Ten.

He can cover receivers in the slot and on the outside, making him incredibly versatile. However, his 5-11, 190-pound frame may not translate to some of the NFL's bigger receivers.

That being said, the Eagles need to address the cornerback position this offseason, and they may have the player they need right in their own backyard.
