Eagles Waive S Andre Chachere, Begin Roster Trimming

The Philadelphia Eagles have cut safety Andre Chachere, who was originally an undrafted free agent in 2018.

The Philadelphia Eagles are beginning to make roster changes ahead of some of the most important days of their offseason.

The Eagles have waived safety Andre Chachere, the team announced Monday. Originally an undrafted free agent with the Houston Texans in 2018, Chachere could now potentially re-join the Eagles on the practice squad while being replaced by a new undrafted free agent in the 2023 class. But this remains to be seen of course, as the Eagles still have lots of work to do and decisions to make as they head into OTAs with sights set on trimming the roster down to 53.

Chachere bounced around practice squads before finding a bit of a comfort zone with the Eagles in 2021. After being claimed off waivers by Philly in Sept. 2021, he would go on to play in 16 games (one start) that season, serving primary as a gunner on special teams and as a backup defensive back. He finished the 2021 season with 15 total tackles, capping off what is still by far the best year of his career.

Last season, Chachere saw his usage and playing time drop, as he appeared in only seven games and finished with five total tackles. Even if his time in Philly is over, it's certainly not out of the question that Chachere finds a spot on another roster or practice squad sometime this offseason based on how his career has gone so far.
