Philadelphia Eagles Collapse Late vs. Seattle Seahawks, Lose Third Straight

Philadelphia Eagles Collapse Late vs. Seattle Seahawks, Lose Third Straight

From pregame uncertainty to some late-game drama, the Philadelphia Eagles looked like they had done enough to grit out an ugly win over the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on Monday night.

Instead, the Philly defense, which had been in all the headlines over the past 48 hours with the demotion of defensive coordinator Sean Desai and the promotion of Matt Patricia to defensive play-caller, allowed Seahawks quarterback Drew Lock to drive 92 yards down the field with 1:24 to play. He found rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a game-winning 29-yard touchdown to give Seattle a 20-17 win, sending the Eagles to their third straight loss.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who battled illness and was questionable to play, had one last crack in the closing seconds but tossed his second of two interceptions to Seahawks safety Julian Love to end the game.

Both teams had quarterback questions to answer prior to kickoff. Hurts and Seahawks starter Geno Smith were both questionable and both were active. However, Smith gave way to Lock, who made his second straight start.

It was Lock who ended up out-dueling a sick Hurts in a game where both offenses were up-and-down. The former Denver Broncos draft pick finished 22 of 33 passing for 208 yards and the game-winning touchdown. He found DK Metcalf five times for 78 yards, including three times on the final drive.

Hurts killed the Seahawks will his legs, finishing with 13 carries for 82 yards and two scores. However, he went just 17 of 31 passing for 143 yards and two picks. The Eagles passing game never got going. A.J. Brown (five catches, 56 yards) and DeVonta Smith (five catches, 50 yards) both had modest games.

The Eagles will look to pick up the pieces when they take on the New York Giants in Week 16.
