Philadelphia Eagles Hire Seattle Seahawks Defensive Coordinator Clint Hurtt as D-Line Coach

The Philadelphia Eagles are adding another new face to Nick Sirianni's coaching staff shortly after bringing in a pair of new coordinators.

Per reports from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Eagles are hiring former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt to be Philly's next defensive line coach. The Eagles are also expected to hire Seahawks assistant Karl Scott to become the new defensive backs coach.

"The Eagles are expected to hire former Seahawks defensive coordinator Clint Hurtt as their D-line coach, per sources," Pelissero tweeted. "Sweeping staff changes continue under Nick Sirianni, who also is expected to hire one of Hurtt’s assistants in Seattle, Karl Scott, to coach DBs."

Hurtt, 45, got his NFL start in 2014 as a d-line coach for the Chicago Bears. After leaving the Windy City in 2016, he joined Pete Carroll in Seattle as an assistant head coach and d-line coach in 2017 before being named the defensive coordinator in 2022.

But despite Seattle's defense possessing tons of talent, the Seahawks missed the playoffs this season while allowing the third-most yards per game (371.4), second-most rushing yards (138.4), and the eighth-most points (23.6).

Hurtt will now work under Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio while new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore controls the other end.
