Getting Greedy: Devin White Hints at Joining LSU Teammate on Eagles?

Before demanding a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, former All-Pro linebacker Devin White seemed to want to play for the Philadelphia Eagles.

He's young (25). He's durable (62 starts in four seasons). He's good (Super Bowl champion, Pro Bowl in 2021).

And most appealing, Devin White's ... angling to play with the Philadelphia Eagles?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' star linebacker has been grousing since Tom Brady announce his retirement in February. He went on his Instagram account and posted ominous photos seemingly hinting that he wanted out of Florida. Now this week he essentially asked for a trade, saying he is "fed up" with the organizational direction and - of course - the lack of a raise a contract extension.

Part of White's unhappiness revealed itself on March 22. On new Philly cornerback Greedy Williams' Instagram, he posted a comment indicating his mindset and - potentially - his preferred destination. White and Williams were All-American teammates at LSU in 2018.

Williams posted about joining the Eagles.

White commented on the post, "Let's make it happen!"

White's value is that he's as adept chasing down quarterbacks in the pocket as he is crunching running backs in the hole at the line of scrimmage. He was  second-time All Pro in 2020, and part of the Bucs' dominating defense that harassed Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the way to winning Super Bowl LV.

And, what do you know, the defending NFC champs have a need at linebacker. Though White might want contract in the neighborhood of Roquan Smith ($20 million), we're assured Eagles' general manager Howie Roseman is crunching the numbers.
