Commanders Request Interview With Eagles Assistant GM Alec Halaby
The Philadelphia Eagles have been known as a trend-setting team for many years now. Several franchises have taken assistant coaches and executives for top roles such as general manager or head coaching roles.
To start the 2024 offseason, it appears at least one team is looking to go back to the Howie Roseman-Jeffrey Lurie well yet again.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reported Monday that the Washington Commanders have requested an interview with Eagles assistant general manager Alec Halaby.
Halaby originally came up as part of the team's analytics department and has quickly risen the ranks to be Roseman's second in command. He's been with the team for 16 seasons.
He doesn't come without his concerns, though. In 2020, following the removal of Doug Pederson as head coach after a 4-11-1 season, reports from the Philadelphia Inquirer explained that the front office was too invested in Halaby's analytics division instead of listening to what the coaches and players wanted.
Those conversations and reports have died down since Nick Sirianni was hired as head coach in 2021. Halaby has since risen to the rank of assistant general manager.
In recent years, the Eagles have lost Joe Douglas to the New York Jets Ian Cunningham to the Chicago Bears, Brandon Brown to the New York Giants, Catherine Raiche to the Cleveland Browns, and Andy Weidl to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
They could be on their way to losing their top analytics guy now, too.
