NFL Free Agency: Atlanta Falcons Open to Re-Signing Calais Campbell?

Calais Campbell's veteran presence would be an asset to the Atlanta Falcons' improving defense for next season.

Calais Campbell spent last season with the Atlanta Falcons, which included starting all 17 games. Now, the veteran defensive lineman remains unsigned in April. Would it be wise for the Falcons and Campbell to potentially pursue a reunion?

According to Falcons new head coach Raheem Morris, Campbell could return again to Atlanta for the 2024-25 season.

“I look forward to getting a chance to sit in front of him because he’s certainly as impressive as it gets when it comes to football character,” Morris said. “He’s had as an impressive of a career that you can have … I’m looking forward to discussing that in further detail with him at a later date.”

During his age-37 season with the Falcons, Campbell produced 56 tackles and 6.5 sacks, his best overall statistical campaign since 2019-20.

Even with his age, if Campbell can still play at a solid level, why not bring back the grizzled veteran for another go-around? Campbell’s leadership would only be an added plus for Atlanta as they retool for winning ways under Morris.
