Atlanta Falcons Sign Former Packers CB Kevin King

Kevin King has connections to multiple coaches on the Atlanta Falcons' staff.

The Atlanta Falcons have signed former Green Bay Packers cornerback Kevin King to an undisclosed contract, the team announced Monday.

King, 28, returns to the NFL after a two-year hiatus. He sat out the 2022 season in order to get healthy, but then unfortunately missed the 2023 season with a torn Achilles tendon he suffered during an offseason workout.

In his five seasons with the Packers, King started 42 of the 51 games he played and accounted for 197 total tackles, 30 passes defended and seven interceptions. His best season came in 2019, when he set career-highs with 66 total tackles, 15 passes defended, five interceptions, a sack and a forced fumble in 15 games.

A 2017 second-round pick out of Washington, King reunites with some familiar faces in his return to the NFL. Falcons defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake was Washington's secondary coach during King's final three collegiate seasons (2014-16). Additionally, Falcons assistant head coach/defense Jerry Gray and secondary coach Justin Hood both worked with King in Green Bay.

King had some ups and downs in his time with the Packers, but the Falcons hope that surrounding him with familiar faces will bring out the best in him.
