Falcons RB Bijan Robinson Says Reggie Bush Should Get Heisman Trophy Back

Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson grew up as a fan of former USC and NFL running back Reggie Bush.

Count Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson among those who think Reggie Bush deserves to have his Heisman Trophy back.

Robinson went on Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill's podcast "It Needed To Be Said" and explained why he thinks Bush should get the award back. Robinson also said Bush was his favorite player growing up.

"You can't take away what he did on the field," Robinson said. "Everyone knows what he did...I don't think you should take away the Heisman, especially for what he did that season. He took over college football."

Bush, who played collegiately for USC, won the Heisman in 2005 before having the award taken away in 2010 after an investigation found he violated NCAA rules. The NCAA's investigation eventually led to Bush not being allowed to be associated with the university for 10 years as of 2010, a two-year bowl ban for USC and its 2004 National Championship was vacated.

He was reinstated on June 10, 2020 by USC, but the NCAA has said they won't reinstate the Heisman Trophy for Bush.

Bush ran for 1,740 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2005. In total, he finished with 2,218 yards from scrimmage and 18 touchdowns. Since he left USC, profiting off Name, Image and Likeness has become legal for college athletes.

Bush was drafted No. 2 overall in the 2006 draft by the New Orleans Saints. He played for five teams in 11 years in the NFL. He finished his career with 5,490 rushing yards and 36 touchdowns while accumulating 3,598 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns.

Robinson also said his grandpa got to referee a USC game against Fresno State the year he won the Heisman and said Bush was the best player he's ever seen in college football. Bush ran for 294 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries.

The No. 8 pick also gave insight to his time thus far with the Falcons, saying that he's focused on the playbook and has learned from defensive end Calais Campbell and fullback Keith Smith.

"When I lay that foundation with my teammates and being a good teammate, get the playbook, being comfortable, I think the sky is the limit," Robinson said.
