Falcons' Bijan Robinson 'Blessed' for Tyler Allgeier

Despite competing for playing time at the same position, Atlanta Falcons' running backs Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier have built a good relationship.

Competition hasn't caused any contempt in the Atlanta Falcons' running back room between Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson.

Allgeier had a strong rookie year in 2022, running for 1,035 yards and three touchdowns. Despite that success, Atlanta took Robinson with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Since Robinson has joined the team, he's built a strong relationship with Allgeier. The rookie running back spoke highly of Allgeier and his impact as a teammate on and off the field.

"Just having Tyler as a teammate and as a brother, it makes your job a lot easier when you guys both support each other to the max," Robinson said. "Just having him on my side and me on his side, and even just how we interact outside of football. We became super close, like super super close."

That relationship outside of football even goes into the shows they watch. The duo share an interest in Anime and Robinson even feels like it's portrayed in how they play.

"People that like Anime, I feel like they play different on the field," Robinson said. "They get in their inner mode that you go into and you don't got to say a word but when something bad happens, you're just getting turned up and riled up. We're the nicest guys, we don't say anything on the field but you can tell like how we run and attack defenders. That's where it all ties into."

Robinson enters the league as the most highly touted running back prospect since Saquon Barkley in 2018. In his three years at Texas, Robinson had 539 carries for 3,410 yards and scored 33 touchdowns. He also made his presence felt in the receiving game with 60 catches for 805 yards and eight receiving touchdowns.

With the expectations surrounding Robinson and how he's performed in training camp and preseason, it's not far-fetched to feel like he has a leg up over Allgeier in any competition for playing time. For Robinson, he feels him and Allgeier are pushing in the same direction for the team rather than fighting for playing time.

"I know people say it's a competition but it's nothing like that at all," Robinson said. "From day one we came together as brothers and we were just like 'We're both in this to help this team win games no matter what it is...It's always fun being around him and I'm so blessed to have him as my teammate."
