The Atlanta Falcons are not in good shape to be facing their second division rival in two weeks on Sunday. Key starters will be sidelined for the game.

The costliest loss for Week 11 will be tight end Austin Hooper, who has not practiced all week because of a knee injury. Hooper has become Matt Ryan’s security blanket this season. Whenever No. 2 is under pressure you can bet that he’s scanning the field for his most reliable receiving target. Hooper leads the Falcons in receptions and touchdowns in 2019 and will be toughest for the Falcons to make adjustments for.

The Falcons will also be missing running backs Devonta Freeman and Ito Smith. Smith suffered a neck injury and concussion in the Falcons game against the Los Angeles Rams and was put on injured reserve last week. He’ll miss the remainder of the season.

Freeman sprained his foot last week in the Falcons win over the Saints and has also been declared out for this Sunday. He’s also expected to miss next Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Also declared out this Sunday is safety Kemal Ishmael. He has yet to clear concussion protocol.

The Carolina Panthers are heading into Sunday in relatively good shape. Cornerback Ross Cockrell has been declared out with a quad injury. Tackle Dennis Daley is listed as doubtful with a groin injury and is unlikely to play. Also, cornerback Donte Jackson has been listed as questionable with a hip injury but this season, questionable means don’t be surprised to see him on the field Sunday.
