Falcons Sign Draft Pick Matthew Bergeron - Contract Details

Per release, the Atlanta Falcons have signed second-round draft pick Matthew Bergeron.

The Atlanta Falcons have officially secured their 2023 NFL Draft class.

Atlanta has signed second-round pick Matthew Bergeron, who's expected to compete for the starting left guard position, to his rookie contract.

Bergeron was the final member of the Falcons' draft class to sign his deal, now putting a bow on the six-man group that also includes running back Bijan Robinson, defensive end Zach Harrison, cornerback Clark Phillips III, safety DeMarcco Hellams and interior offensive lineman Jovaughn Gwyn.

According to OverTheCap, Bergeron's four-year deal is valued up to $8.978 million and comes with a 2023 cap hit of $750,000.

The Falcons traded up seven spots in the second-round to land Bergeron, who stands 6-5, 318 pounds and earned second-team All-ACC honors at Syracuse this past season.

A 39-game starter with 32 consecutive at left tackle to close his career, Bergeron's experience playing guard starts and ends with one practice at the Reese's Senior Bowl - but the Falcons believe his power and lateral quickness make him a natural fit inside.

Bergeron, 23, hails from Victoriaville, Quebec, Canada, and was heavily under-recruited out of high school; his lone offer to play at any level came from Syracuse, and he instantly rewarded their belief by becoming the first freshman to start at tackle in 17 years for the Orange.

Now, Bergeron's received similar faith from the Falcons - and with his contract officially handled, will set his sights towards delivering once more.
