The Atlanta Falcons have question marks at important positions like quarterback and wide receiver, but rest assured that one position is more than covered ... kicker.

According to NFL Network, the team signed former Minnesota kicker Matt Trickett to a three-year deal. So, what about former Pro Bowler Younghoe Koo? Well, therein lies the rub.

He's still on the roster. And he signed a five-year, $24.25 million dollar contract with the team in May 2022. By all accounts, he is the kicker of the future for the Falcons.

“After working out at mandatory minicamp, the Falcons are signing former Minnesota kicker Matthew Trickett to a 3-year contract, source said. He can take some kicks off Bradley Pinion and Younghoe Koo in the preseason and ATL can work to develop him," NFL Network tweeted.

And maybe that's the only logical answer for signing Trickett ... letting him take kicks off of your other two legs this offseason and working to develop the rookie. Signing him to a three-year deal, though, is odd.

Koo is only 28 years old and his five-year NFL career has amounted to making 122/137 field goals for an 89.1 percent success rate. He's also hit 120/126 extra points. In summary, he's good.

During Trickett's five-year college career between Kent State and Minnesota, he went 79/100 on field goals and hit 176/179 college-distance extra points.

He is now an Atlanta Falcon for the foreseeable future... and one of three kickers on the roster. I guess a surplus of kickers can't really hurt.
