Kyle Pitts Injury Update: Is Falcons TE Rehab ‘On Schedule’?

Kyle Pitts is “on schedule” in his recovery from knee surgery, a key piece of news for coach Arthur Smith's Falcons offense.

The Atlanta Falcons are offering a promising rehab update on star tight end Kyle Pitts.

The Falcons, coach Arthur Smith said recently while on the college scouting tour, “feel pretty good about where he’s at.”

Pitts, the No. 4 player in his draft, is currently recovering from a knee injury he suffered at the end of the 2022 season that knocked him out for the last seven weeks of the year. Smith indicated that the team expects Pitts back for training camp, adding that his current rehab process indicates Pitts will be able to accomplish that goal.

“It’s an ongoing process every day,” Smith said. “Ultimately, what matters is getting ready for training camp.”

Falcons tight end coach Justin Peele also provided an update on Pitts’ mindset as the young budding star goes through his recovery, saying that Pitts is in “good spirits.”

This is fantastic news for the Falcons and their fans as Pitts is a core player the offense - or should be - is built around.

Atlanta has some major questions at the quarterback position this offseason. The Falcons could choose to start second-year QB Desmond Ridder, who showed promise at the end of the season, or they could get a vet acquisition involved, or they have the ability to take a new signal-caller in the NFL Draft using a premium pick: Atlanta is slated to draft in the No. 8 overall slot.

Regardless of which path the Falcons choose, the QB will want to have the dynamic pass-catcher Pitts out on the field.

Pitts has registered 1,382 yards on 96 catches in his first two seasons. He will need to produce with even more consistency for the Falcons to take a step towards being a playoff team. … and his positive health update is a key part of the process.
