According to multiple reports, New York Giants tight end Darren Waller is expected to play in tonight's regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Giants and Waller gave fans a bit of a scare Friday when the tight end popped up on the injury report with a hamstring issue. Waller, who missed multiple games last year due to hamstring strains, was listed as a "limited" participant in the Giants' Friday practice after advising trainers that he felt some tightness.

The team, well aware of his history, didn't push the issue, instead pulling him out of practice and getting him into treatment. By Saturday, when the Giants went through a walkthrough practice, Waller had improved enough to alleviate any concerns, as the Giants did not elevate a tight end off their practice squad.

The soon-to-be-31-year-old Waller made it through summer training camp without any known issues, thanks partly to the Giants' management of his reps.

The Giants host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football at MetLife Stadium. New York is 1-11 in the last 12 meetings and is looking to win its second straight regular-season opener since 2009-2010.
