See It: Darnay Holmes and Jabrill Peppers Challenge Each Other During Workouts

If that old saying "iron sharpens iron" is true, then the Giants defensive secondary should be lit this year.
Rookie cornerback Darnay Holmes, the team's fourth-round pick out of UCLA, has been working out hard this off-season, sometimes sharing the field with Giants teammate Jabrill Peppers.

In a video posted to his Twitter account, Holmes is sporting a T-shirt that says, "I fear no man." He has a very good opportunity ahead of him to carve out a niche on defensive coordinator Patrick Graham's new defense.
In three seasons at UCLA, the 5'10, 195-pound Holmes recorded 120 tackles, eight interceptions 17 passes defended, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.
While most draft analysts view him as an ideal fit for the slot cornerback role, Holmes hasn't exactly been a slouch on the perimeter.
Last season, he allowed 51% of the pass targets against him to be completed for 311 yards and five touchdowns, according to PFF's 2020 draft class stats export data., good enough for an 86.3 passer rating allowed when targeted.
AS for the slot, Holmes doesn't have as much experience there. He told reporters earlier in the spring that he first lined up in the slot during the Senior Bowl, adding that he "loved it" there but also had "a lot of things that I need to learn about it."
But if the Giants want him to line up there, he's willing. "I’m just ready to contribute. Wherever they put me, I’m going to maximize that role, and I’m going to make sure that I understand that role. My main thing is understanding it and grasping all the concepts," he said.
