Jaguars vs. Browns: Trevor Lawrence to Start Despite Ankle Injury

Lawrence will be making his 47th consecutive start.

Despite a high ankle sprain less than six days ago, Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence will keep his consecutive starts streak in tact in Week 14 vs. the Cleveland Browns.

Called a game-time decision by head coach Doug Pederson on Friday, Lawrence will play today after being a limited participant in practice on Thursday and Friday.

Lawrence has started all 46 regular-season games in his career since Week 1 of the 2021 season, joining Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Justin Herbert as the only quarterbacks to do so.

Lawrence completed 22 of 29 attempts (75.9%) for 258 yards and had three touchdowns (2 pass, 1 rush) with zero turnovers, along with a season0best 125.4 rating last week. He will aim for his fourth game in a row with 250+ pass yards, 90+ rating & a rushing touchdown. He has a 100+ rating in 4-of-5 road starts this season.

“The biggest thing as you mentioned, player health. That’s the biggest thing. Our job as medical staff, head coach, we’re not going to put players on the field that aren’t one hundred percent, that aren’t healthy, that could maybe even further risk more damage to the area that’s injured," Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said this week.

"It’s our job to protect those players and make sure it’s not at the cost of winning a football game. Yes, we are in this last sort of month of the year where we’re making our run, but we also know too, if for instance, Trevor [Lawrence] can’t play in this game, there’s going to come a time at some point where he is. We’ve all got to come together to weather this storm a little bit, so that if there’s a time when he does return so to speak, we make that push with him and we’ve gone through this period of playing some backups.”
