Jaguars Restructure Foyesade Oluokun, Open Up $10.336M in Cap Space

The veteran linebacker added three void years to his contract.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have started opening up cap space for 2023, restructuring linebacker Foyesade Oluokun

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the deal opens up $10.336 million in cap space. The Jaguars are now at $-12,387,686 in cap space.

According to Spotrac, the move adds three void years to Oluokun's contract and lowers his 2023 cap number to $8,830,667.

By adding three void years to Oluokun's deal, this pushes $2,584,000 annually down the road through 2027. Oluokun now carries a $21,750,668 cap hit in 2024, which more or less means the new restructure will keep him on the roster through at least 2024.

Oluokun led the NFL in both solo tackles (128) and total tackles (184). Oluokun’s 18 total tackles in Week 12 against Baltimore and S Rayshawn Jenkins’ 18 total tackles in Week 15 against Dallas were tied for the third most in a single game in the NFL this season. This is the most in franchise history in a single game since 2015

"Really, I think I told the guys this, when I look at it, when you get a linebacker that has 20 tackles, 18 tackles, they got ran through, but when you look at this game, it wasn’t that," Mike Caldwell said after the Ravens game.

"He did a great job of being who he is. He works hard all the time. He runs to the ball at practice. He’s a guy that, he has a feel to find the ball. He did a great job. When it’s time to make plays, he’s a playmaker.”
