2024 NFL Draft: Who Does Sports Illustrated Mock to the Jaguars?

The Jaguars land a No. 1 cornerback in the latest mock draft from SI.

With the 2024 NFL Draft just a week away, mock drafts are set to flood the market.

This, of course, means the latest draft projections from Sports Illustrated. And with the Jaguars sitting at No. 17, SI has the Jaguars going a popular route with a cornerback. This time, though, it is Clemson's Nate Wiggins who lands in Jacksonville.

"Last year, the Jaguars ranked 26th against the pass. Then the offseason saw Darious Williams leave as a cap casualty, with the big replacement being a journeyman in Ronald Darby. Wiggins would be an immediate upgrade to a secondary that needs a star corner," SI's Matt Verderame said.

Wiggins, who will turn 21 in August, played in 11 games as a freshman and recorded two pass deflections. He then became a starter in 2022, appearing in 13 games and starting 11 while recording 29 tackles, two tackles for loss, an interception, and a team-leading 14 pass deflections.

In 2023, Wiggins appeared in 10 games and started seven while recording 25 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, two forced fumbles, two interceptions, and 11 pass deflections while being named First-Team All-ACC.

“I think it’s a good group. I think if you looked at 32 boards, you’d probably find 28 different ways to stack the top 10 corners in this draft," Jaguars general manager Trent Baalke said on Thursday, "You might find 32 different ways. I think it’s that close. I think there’s good value, they’re good players, the make up and character of these players are all different, it’s all over the board. It’s going to be interesting how that group falls off the board on draft day.”

"I think the system plays an important role in that as well. How are you going to play the corners? You going to play them off-man? You going to play them on the line of scrimmage? On press and run with guys? So, I do think that plays into it. I think there's really good depth and really good skill at the corner position in this draft more so than maybe the last couple of drafts that I've been involved with here. So, it'll be interesting to see how these top guys fall off the board.”
