Why Bengals WR Tee Higgins Wouldn't Hate a Reunion With Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence

Could the Jaguars make a major move for Tee Higgins after he requested a trade?

Among the many offseason questions posed by the Duval Devout upgrading the wide receiver corps became the top one in the eyes of many after the recent signing of center Mitch Morse. While Calvin Ridley is still currently on the roster, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins would be a compelling alternative.

While the likelihood of Higgins departure from Cincy as a cap causality isn’t new news in the national media, comments he made a month ago to NBC Sports' Lawrence Jackson Jr. of reuniting with his former Clemson Tiger teammate – and current Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback – Trevor Lawrence add some spice to the conversation.

While Higgins claimed at the end of the day he would prefer to remain with Joe Burrow in Cincinnati, the first he listed among the alternatives was Lawrence.

“. . . Obviously, I would love to go and play with my college quarterback, Trevor. . .”, said Higgins when which three other quarterbacks he could see himself playing with. He would also go on to mention the Houston Texans’ quarterback CJ Stroud before going on to list off Pro Bowl quarterbacks like the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen and the Baltimore Ravens Lamar Jackson (even though the initial question only asked for him to name three).

While this is all a moot point in the seemingly unlikely event the Jags sign Ridley, the numbers for the contract while factoring in for recent acquisition of former Bill Gabe Davis would be the determining factor for landing Higgins.

It may be an interesting prospect for Jags fans to think about adding in 656 yards and five touchdowns of production from 12 games in 2023. But, considering the free agency questions and salary cap challenges, it might be just as disturbing to see he also lists franchises the Jags faced last year – especially in the AFC South.
