WATCH: New York Jets fantasy outlook for Week 3 vs. New England Patriots

Start/Sit advice for your favorite New York Jets players in Week 3 against the New England Patriots.

For most NFL fans, drafting a player from your favorite team is all a part of the fantasy football experience and for the most part, a few New York Jets players could put up quality fantasy numbers during the 2019 season.

The rest of the bunch, however, are looking like matchup-dependent plays based on the current state of the team; especially in Week 3.

The New England Patriots have been dominant to start the year and will arguably pose the toughest fantasy matchup for Jets players this season (so far, anyway).

With that in mind, here’s the fantasy outlook for each Jets player for Week 3.

Key Stats to Keep in Mind

  • New England has allowed 246 total yards per game this season (No. 1 in the NFL).
  • New England has allowed 37 yards rushing per game this season (No. 2 in the NFL).
  • New England has allowed 209 yards passing per game this season (No. 8 in the NFL).
  • Opponents have completed 15 percent (3-of-20 attempts) of deep passes against New England this season.
  • Opponents have completed 61.6 percent of short passes against New England this season.
  • New England has allowed 81 yards receiving to tight ends this season (No. 17 in the NFL).
  • New England has allowed 288 yards receiving to wide receivers this season (No. 10 in the NFL)
  • New England has allowed 12 receptions to opposing running backs this season (T-No. 22 in the NFL).
  • New England has allowed 93 yards receiving to running backs this season (T-No. 20 in the NFL).
  • New England averages 422.6 total yards on offense per game this season (No. 5 in the NFL).
  • New England averages 310 yards passing per game this season (No. 5 in the NFL).
  • New England averages 111.5 yards rushing per game this season (T-No. 13 in the NFL).
  • New England averages 38 points per game this season (No. 2 in the NFL).

The Must-Starts

Le’Veon Bell

FantasyPros Week 3 Ranking: RB9

FanDuel: $7,700

DraftKings: $7,000

The Patriots’ defense presents a tough matchup for Bell this weekend, but he’s still a must-start due to the volume of work he’s seen so far.

The two-time All-Pro has played on 95 percent of New York’s offensive snaps this season and provides tremendous value in the passing game with Luke Falk under center (eight targets in Week 2).

Additionally, Bell has great career numbers against the Pats, totaling 453 yards from scrimmage and a score in three career games against them.

Boom-Bust Plays

WR Jamison Crowder (PPR Only)

FantasyPros Week 3 Ranking: WR51

FanDuel: $6,200

DraftKings: $4,800

Crowder was looking like a potential PPR stud in Week 1, but his value definitely took a hit after Sam Darnold was ruled out indefinitely. After seeing a whopping 17 targets against the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, the 26-year-old slot receiver saw just six against the Browns in Week 2.

However, it is worth mentioning that five of his six targets came with Luke Falk under center.

If Falk continues to look Crowder’s way, he could be in for a solid fantasy day against a Pats defense allowing a 61.6 completion percentage on short passes.

Start at Your Own Risk

RB Ty Montgomery (PPR Only)

FantasyPros Week 3 Ranking: RB64

FanDuel: $4,600

DraftKings: $4,400

Montgomery a much larger workload in Week 2 (35 percent snap count) than he did in Week 1 (one percent) and he made the most of his opportunities, totaling 40 yards from scrimmage.

Bell still has complete dominion over New York’s backfield, however, which makes Montgomery a desperation RB3 start in deep PPR leagues at best.

WR Robby Anderson

FantasyPros Week 3 Ranking: WR50

FanDuel: $5,700

DraftKings: $4,800

The chemistry Anderson displayed with Luke Falk on Monday (four receptions for 81 yards on six targets) is an encouraging sign that his fantasy potential is still there.

However, he’s better off on the bench this week.

The 26-year-old burner will matchup with Stephon Gilmore this weekend and he hasn’t had much success in his six career games against the Pats, averaging 26.7 yards receiving per contest with no touchdowns.

Avoid This Week

DST NY Jets

FantasyPros Week 3 Ranking: DST31

FanDuel: $3,000

DraftKings: $2,100

There’s no sugarcoating this one. The Jets defense has a nightmare matchup this weekend.

Led by quarterback Tom Brady, New England boasts the second-highest scoring offense in the league and a wealth of offensive weapons in Julian Edelman, Josh Gordon, James White and Sony Michel.

Streaming a defense with a more favorable matchup would probably the best move fantasy owners can make this weekend.

QB Luke Falk

FantasyPros Week 3 Ranking: QB31

FanDuel: $6,000

DraftKings: $4,600

Falk showed us that he has a good understanding of Adam Gase’s offense against the Browns and played well in relief of Trevor Siemian (20-of-25, 198 yards passing).

However, the Browns didn’t game plan against the young signal-caller, which is an advantage the Patriots now have heading into Week 3.

New England will definitely come into this one well prepared and unless Falk can make some significant adjustments on the fly, he could be in for a rough day.

WR Demaryius Thomas

FantasyPros Week 3 Ranking: WR113

FanDuel: $4,700

DraftKings: $3,300

Thomas is listed as questionable for Week 3 after re-injuring his hamstring against the Browns Monday night, but he’s a desperation WR4 start at best.

The four-time Pro Bowler still needs re-acclimate himself to Adam Gase’s offense and prove he can have a significant role on this team.

TE Ryan Griffin

FantasyPros Week 3 Ranking: TE31

FanDuel: $4,000

DraftKings: $2,500

Griffin has a solid matchup on paper, but he’s best left on the bench this weekend.

The 29-year-old tight end has been a non-factor through the Jets’ first two games (three receptions for 10 yards receiving) and saw just one target with Luke Falk under center on Monday night.

K Sam Ficken

FantasyPros Week 3 Ranking: K31

FanDuel: N/A

DraftKings: N/A

The Patriots’ defense poses a tough matchup for New York’s inconsistent offense, which could limit Ficken’s fantasy potential for Week 3.

Fantasy owners could probably find a better streaming option through the waiver wire this week.

No Fantasy Relevance Until Proven Otherwise

QB Trevor Siemian (Season-Ending IR)

QB David Fales

WR Josh Bellamy

WR Braxton Berrios

TE/FB Trevon Wesco

RB Bilal Powell

WR Quincy Enunwa (Season-Ending IR)
