It's been a wild last couple of days for Greg Dortch but now that the dust has settled, he's back with the New York Jets, albeit in a reduced situation.

The Jets kept Dortch on initial 53-man roster but then cut the undrafted rookie wide receiver/punt returner on Sunday and in his place acquired Braxton Berrios from the New England Patriots via waivers.

A day later, the Jets are re-signing Dortch as an addition to the practice squad, per ESPN's Rich Cimini.

Whew. Okay, all caught up with that?

This is the right decision by the Jets. Dortch is still raw but his potential is undeniable. The 5-foot-7, 173-pound Dortch transformed into a fan favorite after his excellent training camp and preseason.

Here's some footage of Dortch's playmaking abilities from the preseason opener vs. the New York Giants:

Dortch certainly has the capability to develop into a productive slot receiver and returner down the line. The dynamic Dortch has the suddenness, vision and burst to reach the end zone every time he touches the ball.

Even if the Jets consider Berrios to be the superior option right now, Dortch provides solid depth on the practice squad, where he can continue to hone his skills.
