The New York Jets had the No. 3 slot in the waiver wire and they definitely made the most of it.

A day after chopping the roster down to 53 players, Jets GM Joe Douglas acquired four players that were released from their respective teams.

The Jets were awarded with New England Patriots wide receiver Braxton Berrios, Minnesota Vikings kicker Kaare Vedvik, Baltimore Ravens defensive back Bennett Jackson and Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers, according to Albert Breer of The MMQB.

Meanwhile, former Jets rookie linebacker Jachai Polite went unclaimed a day after stunningly being released, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Polite was then picked up to the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad, per NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Struggling kicker Taylor Bertolet was released in favor of Vedvik, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Vedvik had a poor preseason for the Vikings but the Jets were reportedly interested in trading for him, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

Berrios sat out the Patriots' third preseason game and had limited snaps in the preseason finale. In 2017, Berrios was a Third team All-ACC selection collegiately at Miami. Berrios also serves as a punt returner.

Jackson is listed as a safety but will likely see more time at cornerback. Jackson was drafted by the New York Giants in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

The Rams selected Franklin-Myers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Franklin-Myers recorded a strip sack in last season's Super Bowl and was projected to back up defensive end Michael Brockers prior to being released.

Credit to Douglas for scouring the market and taking advantage of their position in the waivers pecking order.
