LOOK: Jets LB Avery Williamson all smiles after successful ACL surgery
Avery Williamson is keeping positive vibes as he's sidelined this season.
Williamson, who was slated to be the starting inside linebacker for the New York Jets this season, sustained a torn ACL in the preseason vs. the Atlanta Falcons and is out for the season. Williamson incurred the injury when he collided with teammate Tevaughn Campbell in the second quarter of the contest.
It's going to require plenty of grueling rehab for Williamson but on Thursday he tweeted that he's up for the challenge after undergoing successful surgery.
It's great to see that Williamson is remaining upbeat and hopefully he has a speedy recovery. Prior to this injury, Williamson was a beacon of health.
Williamson has played in all 16 games for the last three seasons and has never missed more than one game in a season during his five-year career. In 2018, which was his first season with the Jets, Williamson amassed 120 tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception.
Williamson is in the second year of a three-year, $22 million deal with the Jets.
