WATCH: Sam Darnold sees Jets rookie Chuma Edoga 'really excelling in the NFL'

The former USC teammates are happy to be reunited with the Jets

Sam Darnold has high hopes for Chuma Edoga. The Jets quarterback is very familiar with the ability of the 6-foot-3, 308-pound rookie offensive tackle, as the two played together in college at USC.

The Jets selected Edoga with the 92nd pick in this year's draft to create a reunion of the Trojan teammates.

Edoga, who officially signed his rookie contract on June 27, explains what he's bringing to the Jets' offense.

"I like to use my athleticism and play with aggressiveness, try to get off the ball and hit somebody in the mouth," Edoga said to New York Jets.com

Edoga made 12 starts in 2017 alongside Darnold and is thrilled to have the opportunity to protect him in the pros.

"I blocked for Sammy D in college and to block for him in the NFL, it's a blessing, a dream come true," Edoga said to New York Jets.com.

Darnold envisions a dominant partnership in the pros with Edoga for years to come.

"I'm just really excited for him, just as a friend, for him to be able to get drafted where he was drafted and for us to take a chance on him, I think it's going to pay off for this organization in the future," Darnold said to New York Jets.com."I see him really excelling in the NFL."
