Dan Campbell Not a Fan of Very Popular Thanksgiving Offerings

Dan Campbell must have ham on his Thanksgiving plate.

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell is not a fan of certain Thanksgiving food offerings many consider as traditional offerings.

Appearing on 97.1 The Ticket for his weekly radio interview, Detroit's third-year head coach was asked what items could be left off his dinner plate on Thanksgiving.

“Must-have is ham. I’m a big ham guy," Campbell told hosts Mike Stone and Jon Jansen. "I’m not a turkey guy, unless it’s fried turkey. I’m not a dressing fan. I’m not a cranberry fan. I’ll throw that right out to the dogs. Everything else, I’ll load it right on top of each other, full stack.”

Preparing for Packers

This will be Campbell's third time coaching the Lions on Thanksgiving.

Players and coaches are now comfortable with preparing to play on short weeks and in front of nationally-televised audiences. The organization has been featured in primetime on several occasions the past couple of years.

Campbell noted that the preparation this week will not change a significant amount from previous years.

"It’s really pretty similar to what we’ve done since year one. I mean, there’s only so much you can do, right, as far as practice," Campbell said. "So, they came in, they got a lift, we met with them, kind of give them an intro to Green Bay and then we’re going to have a walk-through here in a little bit, about an hour, a little over.

"And then, get them out of here, get them off their feet, let them rest, because that’s big since they just played yesterday. And then, come back in tomorrow, they’ll get a lot more of the gameplan, the base, the third-down and then we’ll have another walk-through. So, it’s been really status quo, if you will, for the last couple of years.”
