The Detroit Lions are expecting their second-year players to take a drastic step forward in 2023.

If the young talent is able to learn from their rookie season, the potential for the team to have success will be drastically elevated.

Two cornerstone pieces of the roster, Aidan Hutchinson and Jameson Williams, will be counted on to produce at a very high level in 2023.

Appearing on the "Green Light" podcast, Hutchinson shared what he has been working on during the offseason and what it was like to be on the sideline when the speedy wideout eventually suited up for the team that traded up to secure his services.

"I mean it happened right as he scored that touchdown," Hutchinson said. "We're all sitting there on the sideline, because we know how fast he is. And, I mean, he was still not 100% coming off that knee. I mean, those guys are not 100% until a year and a half after. We were all sitting there on the sideline just stargazing and really excited about next year."

In his second career game, Williams scored a receiving touchdown, a 41-yard, wide-open catch against the Vikings' defense at Ford Field.

"We've had some great conversations with Jamo," said Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. "Ever since the season ended, I know his mind is going to be right, when he gets back in here in the springtime. He's really looking forward to taking that next step as a player and really make a big impact on this league."

2023 goals

After a stellar rookie campaign, the former No. 2 overall pick is making sure his nutrition and workout regimen will put him in the best position to have success in his second NFL campaign.

"I'm just bettering myself and working on mobility, flexibility. I'm working on getting as strong as I've been," said Hutchinson. "I think I've found some really good guys to get me to those places. And, man, I'm eating great food right now. I think just (with) this being my first offseason, I feel like I'm doing everything, you know, the right way. And, I'm just doing the right things in order to prepare myself for a big year."
