Lions Winning Division Only Appetizer, Still Need Entree, Dessert

Lions want to build on their success after winning the division.

After winning the NFC North, the Detroit Lions have now turned the page and are focused on accomplishing many more goals than simply being the top team in the division.

"It's definitely awesome," left guard Jonah Jackson told reporters. "But you know, that's just the appetizer. We still need an entree and the dessert, you know? So, we still got a lot to go."

Detroit's coaching staff has emphasized to the young roster that good football teams turn the page quickly and become focused on their next objective.

Facing a Dallas Cowboys team that has not lost a home game this season and battling for the No. 1 seed in the NFC will quickly aid in helping the team avoid becoming complacent and satisfied.

"I’m happy that we could deliver this one thing. But we’ve got more work to do," Dan Campbell said, when asked if he has gained a new appreciation for accomplishing a feat the organization has not done in 30 years.

Running back David Montgomery expressed after practice Wednesday the mood in the locker room has been just the same.

"We are tying to do something even bigger than we did," Montgomery said. "I feel like we already knew that we were going to take the division. But now it's us being able to capitalize and go get something greater."

Present from Jared Goff

Last week, several videos were released online of starting quarterbacks gifting their offensive linemen lavish gifts.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes gifted his linemen custom golf carts.

Dolphins signal-caller Tua Tagovailoa gave his teammates in the quarterbacks room a golf simulator.

Jared Goff, who has been known as being creative and generous during the holidays, took care of those in charge of protecting him out on the field.

Detroit's offensive line were each given expensive Shinola bags and a Shinola Black Blizzard watches.
