Defensive linemen Tyree Wilson and Jalen Carter, players who could be targeted by the Detroit Lions at the No. 6 spot in this year's draft, will not be actively involved in many workouts at this year's combine.

Wilson suffered a foot injury that cut short his 2022 season with Texas Tech.

“I fully intended to finish this season with my brothers on the field, but, unfortunately, I broke a bone in my foot. And, despite my best efforts to work through it, multiple doctors have advised me to get it fixed immediately," Wilson explained. "Although I have to stay off my foot for the next couple of months, I will be 100% healthy and prepared for the NFL Draft workouts, where I plan to continue to prove that I’m the best defensive player in this upcoming draft.”

The NFL Network reported ahead of the combine that the talented defensive lineman will participate in the bench press, but has decided to wait until his Pro Day workout to showcase his vast skill set in front of evaluators.

Carter, who is widely considered among the top-10 players coming out of college, will not participate in any workouts this week.

His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN the 21-year-old lineman will meet with teams for interviews, and undergo a physical this week.

After Georgia won back-to-back College Football Playoff national championships, Carter expressed he would be entering the draft and foregoing his senior season with the Bulldogs.

The Lions possess the No. 6 and No. 18 overall picks in the upcoming draft, and could target a defensive lineman with one of their early-round selections this year.
