Green Bay Packers vs. Denver Broncos Prediction for NFL Week 7
The Packers enter this Week 7 contest off their BYE, which although early in the season, could not have come at a better time, following consecutive primetime losses at the hands of the Lions and Las Vegas Raiders. While left tackle David Bakhtiari is out for the season and linebackers De'vondre Campbell and Quay Walker remain questionable for Sunday’s clash in Denver, the Pack are perhaps the healthiest they have been all season.
With Christian Watson active and Aaron Jones trending to play – arguably the team’s two best weapons, who have only played 11 snaps together until this point – we expect Green Bay’s offense to look impressive at full strength off the BYE against a Denver defense that surrendered 70 points a few weeks ago.
At 2-3, the Packers sit in second place in the NFC North, 2.5 games behind the 5-1 Lions and in the backend of a thick wild card chase. If the Packers have any hopes of becoming a playoff team, getting back to .500 with a win over the lowly 1-5 Broncos is an absolute must.
For the Broncos, the 1-5 start to the Sean Payton era is a tad surprising. Given his successful tenure in New Orleans and Russell Wilson’s storied career, we thought the Broncos were headed for a much cleaner campaign following a debacle of a season in 2022-23.
While the defense has shown some slight improvements since the 70 points allowed to the Dolphins, the offense has struggled mightily with consistency, aided by a failure to establish the running game. Last time out, the Broncos suffered a 19-8 loss in Kansas City on Thursday Night Football, as the offense failed to surpass 200 total yards, committing three turnovers. The one thing going for this team is 10 days of rest going into Sunday’s home game.
So, will the team with 13 days of rest or 10 days of rest take this one? We trust the Packers’ young offense to find a groove at full strength while their adequate defense holds down the fort. Injuries and inconsistent play from quarterback Jordan Love have plagued the Packers, where a lack of execution, consistency and chemistry all around has plagued the Broncos.
