Packers vs. Panthers Prediction, Player Prop Bets & Odds: Sunday, 12/24

The rollercoaster season the Green Bay Packers have endured was punctuated by a new low when the Packers failed to bounce back at home in Week 15 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, making it two straight losses as favorites after three big wins in a row. Playoffs aren’t out of the question, but three straight wins to end the season are likely needed, starting with Sunday’s game in Charlotte, North Carolina against the Panthers.

The Panthers just earned their second win of the season but still own the NFL’s worst record. The Packers have a must-win game on their hands, which means our experts zeroed in on this game to deliver an official Packers vs. Panthers prediction made up in part by Packers vs. Panthers player prop bets and Packers vs. Panthers odds powered by FanDuel Sportsbook.

Green Bay Packers vs. Carolina Panthers Prediction for Sunday's Game

The Panthers used their quality pass defense, the poor play of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder, sloppy weather, the legs of Chuba Hubbard and the leg of Eddy Pineiro to defeat the Falcons at home in Week 15, 9-7. Meanwhile, the Packers were torched by Baker Mayfield and Co. at home to the tune of 381 passing yards and four aerial touchdowns, not a good sign for a defense that almost gives up on the run to stop the pass.

Thankfully for the Packers, the Panthers don’t have wideouts like Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and instead have the aging Adam Thielen, a receiver the Packers are plenty familiar with. Additionally, the Panthers have rookie QB Bryce Young, who has experienced plenty of growing pains without weapons and an adequate offensive line.

The Panthers shouldn’t be much of a threat through the air in this game, especially with top defensive back Jaire Alexander expected to return. The problem is Jordan Love and the Packers’ dependency on throwing the ball will be challenged by the Panthers’ secondary. With both passing attacks expected to struggle a bit, it makes sense the over/under is as low as 37.5.

The good news for Green Bay is their backfield will feature A.J. Dillon and Aaron Jones together for just the eighth time this season. The Packers will need all they can get from their tailbacks in a game against a poor rushing defense.

With reinforcements coming back for the Packers, more weapons, a better-equipped QB to make a dire play and more motivation to pick up a win, we like the Packers to win and cover a tight spread of -4.5 (-115 at FanDuel).

However, the part of our Packers prediction we like even more is our Packers vs. Panthers player prop best bets, where we target the leading running backs on each side.

Player Prop Bets & Picks for Packers vs. Panthers Featuring Aaron Jones & Chuba Hubbard

In his first game back from a knee injury, Aaron Jones rushed for 53 yards on 13 carries against the Bucs, including a strong burst for 20 yards on one particular run. Despite Dillon re-entering the fold this week, we feel more comfortable with the expectation the Packers will lead this game and focus on running the ball against this Panthers defense.

Jones should pick up this same workload on the ground if not more, and he should be just as effective if not more effective against this defense. Another week of progress with the knee should lead to more trust in his hard-running ability. We like Jones Over 52.5 Rushing Yards (-114 at FanDuel), potentially breaking off a big run at some point.

On the other side of our Packers vs. Panthers player prop bets, we have Chuba Hubbard. Despite bringing in Miles Sanders in free agency, it's been the incumbent Hubbard who has been more reliable and effective this season, especially as of late. In each of his last three games, Hubbard has carried the rock 22+ times for 87+ yards, Even in a 28-6 loss against the Saints, the Panthers fed him 23 times as a means to move the ball.

With the Packers owning one of the worst rush defenses and the Panthers continuing to feed Hubbard, we believe Hubbard Over 68.5 Rushing Yards (-114 at FanDuel) is a smash play and arguably the top pick from our Packers vs. Panthers prediction.
