Packers’ Early Super Bowl Odds Are Subject to Change

Sportsbooks have set their Super Bowl LVIII futures odds, even if Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers’ future is murky.

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay Packers are +2500 to win Super Bowl LVIII at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Subject to change, of course.

There are two big mysteries in the NFL. One is who will win Sunday’s Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. The other is whether Aaron Rodgers will be the Packers’ quarterback in 2023.

The Rodgers dilemma is factored into Green Bay’s championship odds and will be adjusted based on the daily rumor mill and, obviously, the final resolution.

The shortest odds anywhere for the Packers are at FanDuel. The Chiefs are the early favorites for next year’s Super Bowl at +600. In the NFC, the Eagles (+900), 49ers (+900) and Cowboys (+1500) are the teams ahead of Green Bay. Among Green Bay’s division rivals, the Detroit Lions also are +2500, the Minnesota Vikings are +4000 and the Chicago Bears are +6500.

At DratKings, the Packers are +3000, tied with several teams for the 10th-shortest odds. The Raiders, who are the betting favorite to be Rodgers’ team for 2023, are +4500.

“They will not be 30/1 if Rodgers stays with them,” Johnny Avello, DraftKings’ director of race and sportsbook, said from Arizona on Friday. “When we’re scouring this news, this is something we need to move fast on. If he does stay with them – or any player signs with a certain team – we’re going to have to make adjustments to those teams to lower them and then raise other teams where there was a chance he was going to go and now he’s not. This is a juggling act.”

At PointsBet, the Packers are +3000. That’s tied with the Jets for the ninth-shortest odds. While the Packers finished third in the NFC North this season after losing to the Lions in Week 18, they have the shortest championship odds of the division teams. The Lions are +3500, followed by the Vikings at +4500 and the Bears at +8000.

The Packers are +3000 at the Westgate Superbook. That’s tied with the Raiders and Jets, coincidentally enough, for the 11th-shortest odds. Green Bay is +1300 to win the NFC, fifth-shortest behind the Eagles, 49ers, Cowboys and Lions.

At BetOnline, the Packers are +3300. That’s tied with Detroit (and others) for the 14th-shortest odds. The Raiders, the betting favorite to land Rodgers if there’s a trade, are +2500.

“Next year’s Super Bowl odds are really tricky with the potential of Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson possibly switching teams along with Derek Carr certain to be moved,” sportsbook manager Adam Burns said. “For this reason, teams like the Jets, Raiders, and Saints probably aren’t the truest odds and, if none of those mentioned quarterbacks move, those odds probably become double of what we have listed now.”
