C.J. Henderson Inks Deal with Texans

It's on to team number three for the former first rounder.

Everyone saw this one coming - C.J. Henderson is no longer a Carolina Panther. Even with a new head coach, Henderson's chances of sticking in Carolina were slim with the defensive staff remaining in tact. In two of the Panthers' final three games, Henderson was a healthy scratch.

Recently, Henderson signed a deal with the Houston Texans, effectively putting an end to his two-plus year trial run in Charlotte.

After a 3-0 start in 2021, the Panthers felt they were in a position to contend for the division crown in the NFC South and made the decision to trade tight end Dan Arnold and a third round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for former top 10 pick, Henderson, and a fifth-round pick.

Unfortunately, things just never worked out for Henderson in Carolina. He never tapped into that top ten potential and was oftentimes the culprit of big, explosive plays. In 39 games (22 starts), Henderson tallied 97 tackles, 10 passes defended, five tackles for loss, two interceptions, one sack, one fumble recovery, and one QB hit while allowing 104 receptions on 144 targets (72%).
