Bruce Irvin see's some serious potential in his new team.

The Carolina Panthers' defensive end has been a part of some incredible defenses in his seven NFL seasons. Most notably -- the Seattle Seahawks' defense that coined the nickname, 'Legion of Boom'.

Because of the offseason acquisitions that the Panthers have made so far, Irvin compared Carolina's defensive front to the 2013 Seahawks when talking to The Charlotte Observer's Scott Fowler after minicamp.

“This kind of compares to that 2013 front we had, when we won the Super Bowl.” Irvin said.

Seattle's defensive front terrorized Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl that season, and came away with a 43-8 victory.

“That team went eight deep up front,” Irvin said. “We had four really good guys, and then four more went in and there was no drop-off. So that’s kind of the feeling I’m getting here. We had a lot of dudes. Everybody communicated. That’s the kind of vibe it is here.”

Carolina's defensive front includes Mario Addison, Brian Burns, Christian Miller, Irvin, Kawann Short, Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe. They have invested draft picks and money into creating one of the league's most dominant defensive lines. In the eyes of Irvin, this will pay dividends heading into the season.

Irvin has 43.5 career sacks, 15 forced fumbles and 99 quarterback hits. His talent level is widely acknowledged -- but his veteran experience on this defensive line will prove to be most importatn.
