Legendary New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick surely knows how to give a locker-room pep talk. But in one case, at least - the case of another legend in golfer Tiger Woods - Belichick experienced a backfire.

As ex-Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman tells the tale via his podcast appearance with Tom Brady and Jim Gray ...

“(Belichick) laid out an hour-long presentation on why Tiger Woods is Tiger (bleeping) Woods,” Edelman shared. “(He said), ‘You guys are out in Vegas in the offseason. This guy is out hitting his seven iron. He’s at the green putting.'”

Good story about the reputed workaholic Woods. But ... soon after, Woods was involved in an infamous scandal. "Crazy Ambien Sex,'' remember? So obviously, Tiger was hitting more than just his seven iron. And at the next Patriots workout, receiver Randy Moss shouted out the coach.

“All of the sudden, you here out of left field, ‘Hey Bill!'” Edelman added. “He knew exactly what it was. ‘How about Tiger (bleeping) Woods?'”

“Belichick,'' quipped podcast host Gray, "got Moss’d!''
