Bill O'Brien Will Do 'Great Things' For Patriots Says QB Bryce Young

The hire of Bill O'Brien as offensive coordinator was done to help elevate New England's offense. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young is a fan.

When the New England Patriots named Bill O'Brien their new offensive coordinator this offseason, they did so hoping that he can come in and help rejuvenate their offense.

Of course, there is no way of telling what impact O'Brien will have until the games are played this fall. However, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young had plenty of praise for the former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator.

“I loved OB,” Young said. “They’re getting a great play-caller, great football mind. He helped me a lot to develop and grow and really come into my own. He helped me in a lot more ways than people know.

"So, I love OB. Definitely, I know he’s gonna do great things up there.”

Under O'Brien in 2022 the Crimson Tide offense averaged 41.1 points per game on a staggering 477.1 yards of total offense. No, the Patriots offense will likely not see production that high, but an uptick is definitely needed.

Young - maybe the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft - isn't the only Alabama quarterback to show love to O'Brien, either, as current Patriots starting QB Mac Jones expressed his excitement to work with O'Brien this offseason.

Jones did suffer a slight sophomore slump this season, throwing for 2,997 yards and 14 touchdowns compared to his rookie season which saw him throw for 3,801 yards and 22 touchdowns.

The Patriots will hope that bringing in O'Brien in helps elevate not only Jones but the Patriots offense as a whole, and return to the playoffs as a result.
