Pittsburgh Steelers at New England Patriots on 'TNF': No Support for New QB Mitch Trubisky?

The New England Patriots have no place and no right to poke fun at the quarterback situations of any other NFL teams. Truly, in terms of teaching and performance and bottom-line success, nobody has done it more poorly that coach Bill Belichick and his staff and QB Mac Jones and his room.

But the Pittsburgh Steelers may be offering up a "Hold My Beer'' moment as the two teams prepare to clash on "Thursday Night Football.''

Young starter Kenny Pickett will be out for the next few weeks with an ankle injury for a Steelers team that is somehow 7-5 despite scoring just 16 points per game.

So to the rescue comes Mitch Trubisky, age 29 and once the Chicago Bears' No. 2 overall pick (yes, in the same draft in which Patrick Mahomes was later taken by the Chiefs). And how does the Steelers locker room feel about that? When running back Najee Harris was asked about Trubisky leadership ability and style, he could "barely contain his enthusiasm.'' (That's sarcasm.)

'It's fine, I guess,'' Najee said of Trubisky's leadership.

And how, Najee, would you describe his style?

"Vocal, I guess,'' he replied.

There is no great reason for the Steelers offense to be bubbling over with confidence this week, and maybe beyond that, as rumors in Pittsburgh suggest that even upon the return of Pickett - the team's 2022 first-round pick - he might not be gifted his job back.

And having said all of that? The Steelers' problems at the position don't compare at all to New England Patriots, for as Pittsburgh is averaging the aforementioned 16 points per game (compared, say, to these teams respective division rivals the Dolphins at 32 points per and the Ravens at 27 points per) ... the Pats are scoring just 12 point per game.
