Raiders vs. Browns Live Game Thread

The Las Vegas Raiders are in Cleveland, Ohio today to take on the Browns, and Sports Illustrated's Raider Maven presents this live game thread.

The Las Vegas Raiders invade a Cleveland Browns team down double-digit players and are in a need of a win.  All of the pressure rests on the Raiders, as no one thinks the Raiders can win.

Remember the rule of five. If the Las Vegas Raiders win that key statistical battle, the game is over. For those who don't remember it, it has to do with sacks and turnovers. If the Raiders have three sacks and give -up two, that means they are plus one. If they then get four turnovers and give up only one, that means they are plus three. That would give them a plus-four for the day. They want to get to a plus-five ratio every game. Teams that reach the rule of five scenarios win 91 percent of their NFL games on average.

HALFTIME:

In order to keep their playoff hopes alive, the Las Vegas Raiders had to come into Cleveland and play a clean and efficient football game.

That's what they're been able to do so far, holding a 10-0 lead over the Browns on the road.

They've played a very balanced and complementary style of football and the Browns haven't shown any signs of being able to stop it.

Offensively, quarterback Derek Carr started out the game sharp in completing his first nine passes, including a five-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Bryan Edwards.

The offensive line has rebounded very well in leading the way for the Raiders to rush for 70 yards in the first half and not allow Browns star pass rusher Myles Garrett to even have one pressure.

Defensively, the Raiders certainly look to be taking advantage of the fact that Cleveland is down to their third-string QB.

They held the Browns to 84 total yards of offense in the first half, including only a minuscule 14 rushing yards.

Cornerback Brandon Facyson in particular has been active with three pass breakups and generally sticky coverage on Browns wideout Donovan Peoples-Jones.

With getting to receive the ball to start the second half, the Raiders have an opportunity to put this game out of reach quickly for Cleveland if they continue to flounder offensively.

END OF THRID QUARTER: Raiders lead 10-7 and will have 3rd and nine coming up at the Browns 21-yard line.

SCORING UPDATE #4: 40-yard field goal attempt by Raiders placekicker Daniel Carlson is Good. Raiders lead 13-7 with 14:51 left to go in the game.

PENALTY: Holding penalty called on Cleveland's Wyatt Teller. 10-yard penalty. Remains 1st down.

SCORING UPDATE #5: Browns Harrison Bryant catches a six-yard touchdown pass. PAT is Good. Browns lead 14-13 with 3:45 left to go in the game.

TURNOVER: Raiders Derek Carr intercepted by Cleveland's Greedy Williams. Browns take over with 2:47 left to go in the game.

PENALTY: Holding penalty called on Raiders Kolton Miller. 10-yard penalty. Remains 2nd down.

SCORING UPDATE #6: 48-yard field goal by Raiders placekicker Daniel Carlson is Good. Raiders win 16-14.

FINAL: Raiders win 16-14. Raiders improve to 7-7, Browns fall to 7-7.
