Inglewood, Calif.-- The Las Vegas Raiders are 3-0 heading into Monday night's game in Southern California against the upstart Los Angeles Chargers (2-1).
The obvious is that this is a game of two terrific quarterbacks. One, Derek Carr, the savvy veteran, the other Justin Herbert, perhaps the best young field general in the National Football League.
Remember the rule of five. If the Las Vegas Raiders win that key statistical battle, the game is over. For those who don't remember it, it has to do with sacks and turnovers. If the Raiders have three sacks and give up two, that means they are plus one. If they then get four turnovers and give up only one, that means they are plus three. That would give them a plus-four for the day. They want to get to a plus-five ratio every game. Teams that reach the rule of five scenarios win 91 percent of their NFL games on average.

While the weather delay may have pushed kickoff back by 35 minutes, it was straight to action once 5:50 PM PT hit.
With the Los Angeles Chargers receiving the ball first, they took their sweet time, 12 plays, 75 yards in just under seven minutes for a four-yard touchdown pass to Donald Parham Jr.
The Silver and Black, even with the SoFi Stadium crowd on their side, couldn’t get settled in with their Cover 3 defense as Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense found the open seams in their defense.
When Las Vegas got the ball for the first time, it was a three and out after two short runs by running back Josh Jacobs followed by an incomplete pass to Hunter Renfrow.
However, the Silver and Black defense returned the favor by forcing the Chargers to go out three and out as well.
The Raiders offense still struggled on their second drive of the game with a single reception to wide receiver Henry Ruggs III to show it. Las Vegas quarterback Derek Carr was forced fumbled by Chargers linebacker Joey Bosa. The Raiders recovered the ball but either way punted the ball away.
A single play on defense changed the Chargers' momentum.
A sack by Darius Philon turned the momentum to the Silver and Black.
The Chargers on fourth down attempt a fake punt by Hunter Renfrow breaks up the attempt turning the ball over.
Yet, on the next offensive drive for the Silver and Black, 2021 rookie first-round pick Alex Leatherwood commits a false start followed by a sack by Chargers Jerry Tillery.
That all happened in the first quarter folks.
Amazingly, the Raiders ended the first quarter with 0 yards on offense.
The second quarter started with a back and forth ending in three and outs for each side.
The Silver and Black, on their second offensive drive of the quarter, moved their chains for the first time after connecting with tight end Darren Waller.
Although a big pickup, it was called back for a short first-down call due to a taunting call on the opposing sideline.
The drive never really took off afterward which resulted in a Raiders punt.
Right when it seemed like a back-and-forth affair, a facemask penalty on Raiders Clelin Ferrell followed by an injury by cornerback Damon Arnette threw the Silver and Black off.
The Chargers march down the field led by Chargers tight end Stephen Anderson with a 34-yard reception the play after Arnette was injured.
The drive ends in a Chargers touchdown to tight end Jared Cook.
It seemed like nothing for the Raiders was going for them as a challenge by the Chargers overturned the first-down call on the field forcing yet again another punt.
The following offensive drive resulted in a 12-yard receiving touchdown by the Chargers running back Austin Ekeler.
To compare, the Chargers had 248 offensive yards compared to the Raiders' 51 offensive yards. Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert threw for three touchdowns in the first half alone.
One other note, the Raiders had 53 penalty yards in six penalties. That’s two more penalty yards than their total offensive yards in the first half.
Chargers lead 21-0 at the half.
START OF THIRD QUARTER

INJURY UPDATE: Chargers Jerry Tillery is injured on the field. Officials timeout.
SCORING UPDATE #4: Raiders Hunter Renfrow catches a 10-yard touchdown reception. PAT is Good. Chargers still lead 21-7. 9:07 left to go in the third quarter.
