So far, the Las Vegas Raiders have signed/re-signed six offensive players in free agency. One of the Silver and Black's more important re-signings in free agency was that of running back Ameer Abdullah.

Abdullah is entering his 10th NFL season as a running back. In his nine career seasons, he has played in 125 games, rushing on 428 attempts for 1,683 yards and scoring six rushing touchdowns.

Last season, Abdullah played in all 17 games and finished rushing on 15 attempts for 89 yards. He was also very reliable in the receiving game last season, finishing with 19 receptions for 131 yards.

Abdullah was given a 55.5 overall Pro Football Focus grade, a 69.2 rushing grade and a 61.8 receiving grade.

In the latest episode of the "Las Vegas Raiders Insider Podcast," our Hondo Carpenter Sr. was joined by our assistant beat writer Ezekiel Trezevant IV. The episode covered Raiders coach Antonio Pierce's comments about quarterbacks, free agent reviews and more.

Carpenter and Trezevant both expressed their thoughts on Abdullah's re-signing and what he brings to the Silver and Black.

"What he does on special teams is phenomenal," Carpenter said. "He has leadership skills, and he is a great guy. He is so good to have around those young running backs and those young players. He's just a good person. He's going to be solid in special teams, he's going to be a great backup at running back, and he's going to allow your offense, Luke Getsy, to do some things with him, and he's going to be a presence in that locker room."

Trezevant added: "I think Ameer is the change of pace guy out of the three running backs in the backfield. Nobody does what he does, which is why it's so important. You got Zamir; he's the thumper. You have two thumpers on your team now. Ameer's that third down change of pace where he can catch the ball out of the backfield, whereas Zamir is still working on catching the ball out of the backfield. Ameer already has that; he has a very unique skill set. He is a specialist because he does so many things, and he does what he does well."
