INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Las Vegas Raiders are in the process of evaluating countless prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.

They are currently meeting with prospects during the NFL Scouting Combine, gathering information on who they are as people off the field and collecting data on their physical profiles.

The Raiders already have a few young, talented defensive backs, but could still add more, as there are several very good cornerbacks and safeties they could add at any point in the draft.

Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter is one of those players. Lassiter, a Second-Team All-SEC member with the Bulldogs, said me he has met with the Raiders.

Lassiter spoke about what it would mean to be a part of the Silver and Black.

“It was great,” Lassiter said about his meeting with the Raiders. “We talked a lot about myself, my background; we talked a good bit of ball.”

Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter already knows a member of the Las Vegas Raiders: His former college teammate, safety Chris Smith II.

Lassiter also talked about what it would be like to play for a coach won won a Super Bowl as a player, like Antonio Pierce.

“It would be nothing short of a blessing,” Lassiter said. “It would be a great opportunity for myself to be part of a team like that.”

Lassiter was part of an incredibly talented Bulldog defense and was teammates with current Raiders safety Christopher Smith II. He smiled at the thought of reuniting with his former teammate.

“My dog, that would be great,” Lassiter said. “Just for us to reunite like we were just a year ago.”

Lassiter is one of the most impressive athletes at cornerback in this draft class. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 180 pounds, giving him good size to match up with wide receivers.

He was impressive in coverage throughout his Bulldogs career, although he did not record an interception. He posted 14 pass breakups during his three years in Athens.

According to Pro Football Focus, Lassiter allowed only 48 completions and one touchdown in his colleg career.

Lassiter has everything Pierce might covet in a cornerback: ball skills, competitiveness and flexibility. He can play in any scheme and defends the run and pass well.

If the Raiders look to go cornerback in the second or third round, Lassiter could be a good fit, and he would have a familiar face in the building already in Smith.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
