The Las Vegas Raiders are on their bye week as they prepare to wrap up the 2023 NFL regular season in the last five games.

The Raiders can use this week off to get healthy and try for one last playoff push, as they sit at 5-7 with several teams in front of them in the AFC playoff hunt.

The Raiders could also use the rest of the regular season to see what they have with some of their young talent. Interim Coach Antonio Pierce already got a head start on this when he decided to move forward with rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell.

The Raiders have again gotten great production out of their star running back, Josh Jacobs. After spending most of the offseason away from the team before he received a reworked contract, Jacobs has come around this season and is producing at a high level for another season.

Jacobs has an outside chance to lead the league in rushing again this season, but even if he doesn’t, he is on pace to have another productive season. Jacobs has 771 yards this season, which ranks third in the NFL.

In addition, Jacobs leads the league in rushing attempts at 220, 26 more than the second-place rusher, Travis Etienne Jr. of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jacobs got off to a slow start this season but has since picked up his production and again has become a threat to make a big play every time he touches the ball.

The Raiders value Jacobs highly, and he has been everything they have wanted him to be in 2023. He has the chance to make another Pro Bowl, and with a few more productive weeks, could establish himself as a Raiders franchise cornerstone for several years to come.

Jacobs got a one-year deal from the Raiders in August and will hit free agency again in March. Neither side will be focused on that for now, as there are still games to be played, but it will be looming after the season.

Jacobs is looking to close out the 2023 season strong and will do everything he can to help the Raiders win games. The Raiders brought him back with hopes that he would be productive again in 2023, and he has delivered.

The Silver and Black will return home to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 10, at 4:05 p.m. EST/1:05 p.m. PST.
