Report: Raiders Named Potential Landing Spot for LB

The Las Vegas Raiders have a Super Bowl-winning former linebacker as their head coach and are a potential landing spot for another Super Bowl-winning LB.

The Las Vegas Raiders signed linebacker Robert Spillane last offseason in what turned out to be one of the best free agent signings in the league.

The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Spillane would finish near the top of the league in tackles while being paired with fellow linebacker Divine Deablo, a converted defensive back who missed many games the previous season due to injury.

Spillane entered this past season determined to prove he could be an every-down starting linebacker. Deablo entered the season determined to prove he could fully transition to the linebacker position and successfully withstand the physical toll of playing linebacker.

Both linebackers proved themselves.

Still, the Raiders could use another talented linebacker on their roster to help bolster the unit.

The Las Vegas Raiders could add Devin White to a talented linebacker unit.

Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus believes the Raiders could again sign one of the best free-agent linebackers available on the free-agent market. This time, it could be linebacker Devin White, who has spent his entire five-year career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"Raiders linebackers coach and run game coordinator Mike Caldwell was the inside linebackers coach for White’s first three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers," Spielberger said. "So White returns to play for the man who helped coach him up right out of the gate as a top-five pick in 2019."

Spielberger thinks the Raiders will add the veteran linebacker to an already strong unit.

"The Raiders also have a former NFL linebacker at head coach, and while the team got strong play down the stretch from the duo of Robert Spillane and Divine Deablo, both are entering contract years in 2024," Spielberger said. "A high-upside flier with tremendous talent is a good way to fill out the depth chart."

The Raiders are only a few pieces away from truly being one of the best defenses in the league. Signing a veteran linebacker like White could help take the Raiders' defense to the next level.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
