The Las Vegas Raiders signed quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to be their quarterback for at least the 2023 season and have now begun putting a team around him to help him succeed.

Since adding Garoppolo, the Raiders have brought in or re-signed multiple pass-catching options for him, bringing back familiar faces in tight end Jesper Horsted and wide receiver Keelan Cole.

They also added a number of other pass catchers in, Jakobi Meyers, Phillip Dorsett, Austin Hooper, O.J. Howard, and Cam Sims. The team also hosted former Los Angeles Chargers and Washington receiver DeAndre Carter on a visit Friday, according to Jordan Schultz of theScore.

A combined seven wide receiver and tight end signings or re-signings are the most by any team this free agency period. General Manager Dave Ziegler has prioritized putting weapons around his new quarterback.

Not only does Garoppolo have all these new pass catchers, he also has very good ones on the roster already in Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow. Having star wide receivers as well as good depth at both positions should prove beneficial for Garoppolo.

In both career stops with the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers, Garoppolo has always had elite pass catchers. He played with wide receivers Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola in New England, as well as tight end George Kittle and receiver Deebo Samuel in San Francisco.

Now in Las Vegas, not only will he have a star to throw to in Adams, but he’ll also have multiple reliable options. In both previous stops, Garoppolo also had good running games to lean on. He’ll have that again with Josh Jacobs.

The Raiders have put Garoppolo in a position to succeed, similar to his prior stops. Now, in a system with a coach, he’s familiar with in Josh McDaniels, all the pieces are in place for Garoppolo to succeed like he’s used to.

The 2023 NFL Draft will go from April 27-29 and be held at Union Station in Kansas City, Mo. The 2023 NFL Year and Free Agency period began at 4 p.m. EDT on March 15.

The Raiders are expected to be significant players in the free-agent market this season.
