Raiders Defense Understands Task At Hand vs. Bills

In this story:
The Las Vegas Raiders will be on the road for the second consecutive week, facing one of the league's best quarterbacks over the last few years, Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills.
With his size, arm strength, football IQ, and the weapons he is surrounded with, Allen poses just as many, if not more, threats than Russell Wilson, who the Raiders faced last week. The Bills are better than the Broncos at pretty much every skill position on the offense.
The challenges Allen presents are not lost on Raiders Coach Josh McDaniels. For McDaniels, Allen and the Bills offense as a whole poses many threats to a defense. One could argue, that the Bills offense is built similarly to the Raiders' offense, as an offense that keeps many opposing coaches up at night.
Over the last couple of seasons, McDaniels and Allen have competed against each other a few times. McDaniels and the veteran quarterback share a mutual respect for one another. McDaniels is as aware as anyone else of just how much of a challenge Allen poses to the Raiders.
McDaniels and company will be even more focused on getting pressure on Allen and disrupting Buffalo's offense. However, McDaniels also understands it is tough to stop a player of Allen's caliber.
Allen is a two-time Pro Bowler who finished top-ten last season in passing yards and completions. He also finished last season second in quarterback touchdowns. Allen, by all accounts, poses a much bigger threat to Las Vegas' defense than most of the other offenses the Raiders will play against this season.
After losing a very winnable game for the Bills against the Jets, the Raiders expect Allen's best in Buffalo's home opener. While it is Buffalo's home opener, it is also the first time Demar Hamlin will return to the field for Buffalo during a regular season game.
Considering the Bills will more than likely pull out all the stops to beat the Raiders on Sunday to avoid going 0-2, Las Vegas must focus on the simple things that aren't so simple, like stopping -- or at least slowing down, one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL.
The Silver and Black remain on the road this week as they travel to play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, Sept. 17, at 1:05 p.m. EDT/10:05 a.m. PDT.
