Rams to Sign Seahawks Free Agent Tight End Colby Parkinson

NFL free agency just started, and the Los Angeles Rams have already made a couple of moves to fill some of the holes in the lineup.

One of the holes in the lineup that the Los Angeles Rams had to fill entering the season was at tight end, as regular starter Tyler Higbee will miss significant time with an injury that he sustained in the first round of the playoffs against the Detroit Lions.

Free agency just started on Monday, and the Rams have already made an effort to fill that hole, signing Seattle Seahawks backup tight end Colby Parkinson to a three-year $22.5 million, which includes $15.5 million guaranteed, according to reports.

Parkinson has not seen a lot of action so far in his career, as he has been the backup for Noah Fant as of late. But with his new team, he will be looking to prove that he deserved a starting job all along.

Before playing in college, he attended Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, California, which is just down the road from the Rams' training facilities. Parkinson was also born in California, so this signing is the tight end coming back home.

The tight end is only 25 years old and has a lot of years left in him, with his best still to come. Coming out of Stanford, he was looked at by a lot of people as just a big receiver instead of a tight end, much like Travis Kelce.

However, he has quickly developed into one of the best run-blocking tight ends in football and graded out very highly in that area according to PFF.

With new depth at the position, the Rams heighten their chances of being able to make it by without Tyler Higbee for the time being.

And with new talent on the roster, the team has also improved its chances at making the playoffs again and contending this upcoming season.
