Rams Take Florida State Edge Rusher Jared Verse in Latest Mock Draft

The Los Angeles Rams could use some help getting to the quarterback, and a recent mock draft gives them that help.

The Los Angeles Rams were in the bottom ten teams in the NFL last year in sacks, and the team could look to draft an edge rusher with the 19th pick in the upcoming draft.

In a recent mock draft by NFL Draft on Fan Nation, they have the Rams taking Florida State edge rusher Jared Verse with their first-round pick and therefore drafting their future at the position.

Verse's 6-4, 250 pound frame makes him an imposing presence to be running towards the quarterback. That build coupled with his well above average speed at the position makes for an absolute nightmare for opposing offensive lines.

He ran a very impressive 4.58 in the 40-yard dash, which makes him one of the faster defensive linemen in the entire draft. After all of Verse's drills in the Combine, he ranked as the second best edge in the draft.

Verse tallied up 12.5 tackles for loss, nine of which were sacks. He also recovered a fumble in Florida State's win in their sixth game of the year against Syracuse. Verse excels at getting to the quarterback, but the one thing he could work on is tackling running backs for loss, as he struggled with that in college.

If the Rams decide to make their first-round pick at No. 19, then there will be a lot of defensive talent that is available, and Verse out of Florida State could be a very intriguing fit for a defense whose young core was one of the best in the league.
